Happy new year to everyone and hope you had a lovely festive period. A new year brings a new start and new challenges, with lockdown 3.0 I wanted to share some tips and advice on how to be less hard on yourself during these challenging times.
First of all, remember it’s okay to take a break. We all need time to relax and take some time out, now more than ever with being stuck at home all the time it’s important to spend some time to yourself doing something you enjoy. That could be a hobby, watching a tv show, baking, some pamper time…anything that makes you feel relaxed.
Try to get plenty of rest, eat healthy and exercise! It’s harder when we are at home to get some exercise and fight the urge to stay up all might and eat junk food but all of these things aren’t good for our mental or physical health. Try mindfulness for relaxation and a nice wind down before bed, get a bit of exercise at home or go for a local walk and try to prep some healthy meals so you don’t rely on quick unhealthy meals or takeaways as often.
Remember that it’s okay not to feel productive. It’s been a long and challenging time and we often feel we don’t have much control around what’s happening right now. It’s understandable and okay not to feel as productive as you normally would so try not to be too hard on yourself.
I hope 2021 brings a lot more joy to people than 2020 did and hopefully the year will be a lot better for our mental and physical health!
